On March 25, 2017 I made a life changing decisions when I committed to attending Kalamazoo College as a freshman in 2017. Leading up to this decision, I have spent hours laboring through college apps, scholarships, and financial aid, and I have experienced the joy of getting into many of the colleges I applied to but also the let down of not being admitted into three of my favorite colleges. Despite all of this, my plans to attend Kalamazoo are based off the opportunities it will provide for me and various other factors that I am looking forward to. Some of the reasons I decided to go to K include, being able to study abroad for 9 months of my junior year, a student to teacher ratio of 13:1, the ability to major in international studies and business and minor in art, and K is paying for a large part of my education. Among many other reasons, I am excited to start this new and important chapter of my life at Kalamazoo, and I can’t wait to see where it will take me.
Career Plans
I do not yet know my career plans after college, after all I will have four years to decide where I want to go in life, however I do have some ideas. Kalamazoo is the number one recruiter for Peace Corps volunteers per capita out of all colleges in the United States. Because of it’s influence in the school I may want to join the Peace Corps after college, something that I have wanted to do after hearing about it in high school. I would like to pursue a professional degree after I graduate from Kalamazoo and attend law school. Eventually I hope to have a career as an international lawyer. And of course I can’t forget to mention that I will be traveling all along the way. Some of my top destinations include Nepal, Morocco, Papua New Guinea, and the 300 mile Camino De Santiago.
